I am searching for two friends I have lost contact with. I'm looking for Leonard Tootsie and LeRoy S. (I don't even know how to spell his last name). Last time I spoke with Leonard he was moving to El Paso but never let me know when he arrived. LeRoy (His father is/was the principal at a high school in Tuba City) went on to Las Vegas is what I hear. If anyone knows where either one of them are at please contact me or give them my e-mail. Their friendship is missed. Thanks

Questions, Requests
I am a musictherapist and I am starting a treatment center specializing in eating disorders treatment. We chose the name "Tiponi" for our center. As we understand it is a Hopi name and means "child of importance". We would really like to know how to pronounce it correctly. Like...is the first i pronounces as in "trip" or as in "visa". And which syllable has the emphasis? Could you please help us with this matter? We respect native American culture so much and we love this name and its meaning. Thank you!

Peace to the Hopi Tribe! I had what I can best describe as a vision involving the Blue Star Kachina prophecies and I am trying to turn it into a movie of some kind. I would like to establish contact with someone, hopefully in the Hopi Tribe or at least with good information, that can look over some of the things I have written and researched to make sure that it is accurate. This is my action to try and tell the Hopi Prophecy in a way that can get it noticed by the mass media in order that the message reaches all those who must hear it. Please contact me if you have a feeling that you would like to help. Thank you in advance, Mathyu

After reading about the uranium mining that threatens the Hopi's water supply I can't help but wonder why all nations are not getting together to stop this genicide of the true American peoples. I am Hopi at heart. My Great Grandfather was a Choctaw and my Great Grandmother was a Creek. My GreatGrandfathers father walked the trail of tears. I have collected a few one of a kind Hopi sterling silver belt buckles. They seem to improve my attitude about my illness. I have written two novels, "Talons of Death" and "Noha's Arc" both centered around Southwest Indian characters. "Noha's Arc" takes place on the Hopi reservation and I wrote this super science novel about the Hopi and the Blue Star Kachina from a vision (dreams) I had. I use to live in Durango, Colorado and have driven through the Hopi lands, but never stopped or visited. I hope my inner ear illness will improve enough I can travel again as I want to visit and meet some of my favorite silversmith artist. I would enjoy hearing from anyone.

Hi! Being that it is September 11, I thought I would drop a message and hopefully someone out there has the story right. When I visited Hopiland in July 2003 - April 2004 I was relayed a strange prophecy concerning the Corn Rock formation. Mishongnovi was created for the soul purpose of watching the Corn Rock formation. Creator told Hopis who lived in Shungopovi, to always watch these rocks because when they fall, it would be the beginning of the end of the Fourth World. So the people at Shungopovi established Mishongnovi to always keep an eye on Corn Rock and inform all the Hopis immediately when it fell. These two rock formations remind any American spectator of the Twin Towers, and ears of corn would symbolize many people (like skyscrapers) standing on top of each other's heads. Well, I was told that the Twin Towers were Corn Rock and now the Hopis of that area now understand this. Any input or corrections to this would be appreciated. Thanx!

I went to my first Kachina dance in the summer of '86. I was born and raised in Minnesota and South Dakota as a mixed breed of Chippewa Sioux. My mom asked if we wanted to go to 1st Mesa to watch a "dance", where we come from that meant a "pow-wow". Me and my sister, Danielle, went up to 1st Mesa for the first time to what we saw just blew us away. It was the Home Dance and it was in Walpi. It was something that was totally new to us. I felt like we had been taken back in time 200 years. It was an amazing thing to see, sitting and watching those Kachinas and Manas! The sound of their songs and the way that the Manas scrapped the blade across the slotted wood on top of the upside down bowl. Once in a life time experience! Since then I've seen many other Kachina dances both plaza and night dances and once went to a night dance in a kiva in Walpi and watched Kachinas go up and down the ladder and dance. Navajo Kachinas stick out in my memory. The last Kachina dance I saw was in '91 at a night dance at upper Moenkopi. Long Haired Kachinas. Their songs were so good I almost memorized the songs but my brother-in-law popped up and I left w/ him. If it wasn't for him I would've have followed the Long Hair Kachinas group all night long just to hear them sing. I haven't seen a kachina dance in 15 years and I miss seeing them. THANK YOU HOPILAND! I miss the mesas, villages, washes, dances and especially the friends I made there. I want to go back and kick back watch the dances and enjoy some "hopi stew" again. Kwaqui!

For those that are interested in doing family genealogy, especially Hopi/Navajo, there is a great website that has been a tremendous help to me, genealogy.az.gov, lots of the last names have been written as if the person who wrote down the information simply sounded out the last name, I've been able to find very valuable information on this website, just enter Navajo or Coconino on the county and it'll bring up all the information, also check out Milton Snow for photographs of Hopiland from back in the day, it's intresting to see how our lands have developed over time. Good luck! Please respond if you have any info on Selestewa, Nasafotie, Tewa or Jackson family genealogy. Thanks.

I was reading a book about losing a loved one unexpectedly and came across the hopi prayer about when a person dies. It touched me in a way because my mother died unexpectedly nearly 11 years ago. Ever since her death I've been having a hard time dealing with the fact that she is no longer here and that prayer gave me hope that although physically she is not here her spirit is and I just wanted to say thank you.

Hi there. I am Tewa from Northern New Mexico. My family left Poquaque/Nambe' during WWII to look for work and my grandfather ended up in a mission school near the Red River, on the NM/OK border, then off to Denver. We still have family in NM, but most of the older people have died. I would like to have a pen-pal from a Tewa speaking pueblo to practice with. If you would like to chat, maybe we can talk, my grammar is bad, though.. We would love to learn about you, for myself, I've been to Antarctica, et cetera. Native only please.

I was looking for a blessing today and found your website with the elder's message. At a young age I found an old copy of the Book of the Hopi. I knew that it contained words of truth as two other books I have found. I believe that when a heart is seeking with sincerity God cannot help but answer. Thank you for your diligence as I am looking forward along with others to see the time of peace on earth. We believe it is soon. We have been given songs to comfort us along the way. We were in Flagstaff last summer and almost made it to Hopiland but had cut the trip short because of the loss of a loved one. It is our desire to return soon. It is our belief that you will have the tablets restored and look forward to that time. Please let me know how I can help with your great commission that will benefit us all.

World Water Forum Opens in Mexico
MEXICO CITY (AP) - Failing public water systems have forced more and more people in poor countries to buy bottled water from private companies, a form of privatization that has created a sharp divide among activists and officials gathered in Mexico City for an international water summit.

As delegates from the 121 countries gather Thursday for the IV World Water Forum, demonstrators plan protests against privatization, dam projects and water extraction from impoverished Indian communities.

The goal of the seven-day forum is improving water access for the poor, an effort that has failed in the past. The poor pay vastly more money to private corporations for their water today than they did when the first global water forum was held in Marrakech, Morocco, in 1997.

Once upon a time there was a great nation of people who served their Creator God with great sincerity and conviction. Thus, He caused them to prosper and to be the greatest nation the world had ever seen. However, as time went on the faithfulness of this great nation of people to their Creator God became less and less, thus giving greedy and corrupt people a way to get a strong foothold on the land. In a relatively short time the once great nation of people became as a bound servant to this new greedy and corrupt rule. The rest of the world watched while this once great nation of people succumbed to their own self-destruction. Once things had become so bad that this nation could no longer hold itself together, enemies from far away came as a whirlwind from all sides and made short work of conquering the people. They became a scattered people and slaves of their old enemy. This is what happened to an ancient Semetic people, however, I believe history repeats itself if people do not learn their lessons from the past. To deny your own people access to good water is to deny your own people their very existence. Is this not an abomination before the Creator God? Truly, we are all slow learners!!

To my relatives: I sing with a pow-wow drum group here in Phoenix, AZ. We are called the New Circle Singers. So I am here and there visiting friends and making new ones. I want to share a story of a young girl, a jingle dress dancer, and her sacrifice for the people. I was at social Pow-wow for the Ira Hayes Memorial. They had a inter-tribal song going and everyone was out there wearing out their moccasins when a feather fell. The area director was aware so he made sure that the fallen feather would be taken care of properly. When asked for the owner to come forward and claim the feather there was only silence. There was a feather pick up song, there were warriors to honor the fallen feather. Everything necessary to honor this fallen feather was done still no one came forward to claim their feather. The elders decided that the feather would be given away since there was no one to claim. The elders also spoke with frustration about the importance of keeping the traditions and how we as a new generations do not honor those traditions. Spirits were heavy and there was a certain discomfort in everyones heart. Where was this individual to claim their feather? Then, from out under her blanket a young jingle dress dancer comes forward with tears in her eyes and pain in her heart. Her mother is there to comfort her as the young girl speaks of shame. "I knew this feather fell. It is mine, I was too scared to come forward and get it. I did not know what others would think of me. I feel like something is wrong with me. Why did this have to happen to me? i don't want to dance anymore." With those words I felt great sadness for my young sister that she was willing to give up her joy of dancing because she was worried about what others might think of her. That day she taught us all a great lesson. She put aside all her feelings to honor her fallen feather and give us all a gift. I did not look at it as something being wrong with her but saw it as the Creator working through her to offer us a gift. That young sister sacrificed a bit of her happiness to give us a lesson in humility. As indian people we did not scorn her but we embraced her. It was a lesson learnt for her and for the rest of us. It was powerful. So many times we let our pride get in the way of true healing, and the shame becomes so much that we are willing to give up the things in our lives that we truly love. We must humble ourselves to our defeat and in doing so it will give us that much more strength and knowledge. There are always lesson to be learned through ones self and one another. So I say to you my relatives, Live humble. "Love like you never been hurt, work like you don't need the money, and dance like no one is watching!"

I had a vision when I was very young and just understood the meaning of the shamans riddle. I was taken to a high mesa and looked below upon a city with a shining glass dome. The shaman spoke and asked me what would be the fate of the city. I told him that it would be burned completely, just as the ocean beyond it had been, by those who inhabited the city. He asked me why this was and I went to look into the city to see if I could see any fault with it. It seemed technically perfect and so I told him I could find no reason. So this morning I wake up and realize why. There was no life there that was not human. None whatsoever. Just wanted to share that with you guys. Since he was the one with the irradecent sword, I figured it would mean something to you. --Ilovespiders

I was adopted in South Dakota and therefore do not know my bloodline. I am a spiritual person who has many dreams/visions. I had one the end of summer sleeping in the woods during army OCS. I was in a dim room or temple with incense in the air. A cloth or stone barrier was in front of me. A figure with white/grey robes came around the barrier; his face was chalky white and eyes that were black and looked straight ahead. It seemed as if he were not alive so I touch his face- I saw that there was a thin un-fired clay mask so when I touched a corner it broke off and the black eyes turned and looked at me. As the figure had come around the barrier, a voice had said "Eototo soh is coming from beyond back into the world of men." I wrote the name down. 6 mo's later, I read Sidney Has no Horse's prophecy, bought the book of the Hopi, recognized Eototo. Just tonight I figured out "So" is "tso" hence Eototo the Great. Please write me; I have many visions and dreams but it is hard to find those who have open eyes and ears. Please email me!!!!

On a Sunday evening I was chosen to carry the Stone People for the Sweat Lodge. So grateful I was asked. Little did I know that it would be a big challenge to carry out. The spirit of the fire would not let me keep to my responsibility of looking after the Stone People. I would fight to keep the stones and wood in place. Then the unexpected happened, the wood and the stones all fell flat in the fire pit. At first I got scared then I began to wonder if anything was wrong with me, if my heart and my mind were right. My first thought was to leave it all alone to turn my back on the fire. I took a chance that I might get burned trying to care for the fire. I had to put all my trust in the Great Mystery that he would not allow me to get burned because only he knows how much I can endure. It took all I had to put the stones and wood back in place. It was difficult but I managed because I knew it served a higher purpose and that the steam from the water was not only carring my prayers but the prayers of others as well so it ahd to be done. in the end it was a good sweat. Through that experience the Creator was telling me that in this walk through life there are going to be the unexpected both good and bad, we have to be open to the experience. When life feels like it has crumbled we have to trust that we will not get burned. As we build ourselves back up we will experience some pain but we all have to trust that the Creator knows what he is doing in our lives. In the end we come out that much stronger and wiser. To all my Native People love one another and be there for each other.
