Questions, Requests
Hello. I am of the Original Yaki Chief's Line, originated in Old Oraibi, tribe moved to Sonora Mexico, to Arizona, my Grandfather went to Iowa. My question is: "What is the Indian Name for Silent City?" It was called Old Oraibi when I was a child visiting there with my family to pay our respects. Perhaps, it was just Oreo, Indian pronnuciation for Orion. I think there was also, another Indian name for Silent City? I just don't remember it. Can anyone tell me the Indian Name for Silent City, other than Old Oraibi?

Tobi, My deceased Father's sister ran away to Denver Colorado when she was young. I am not sure what her name was. Maybe Areilia, or Maybe Aurora, or maybe some other name she had. I thought it was Areilia, but after thought maybe Aurora, yet not cerain of either name. My Parents spoke of both names. Though you should check out the names in Davenport, Iowa. As it has a very large Mexican American Community there. Who knows ya just might get lucky, and find who you are looking for. Good Luck.

Cheyenne, Just responding to your search for your father Manuel (My Uncle). My father Ferris H. and other family members haven't heard from your dad for awhile. I believe he's still in Phoenix but no one knows where. I ran into his other daughter but I can't remember her name, I think it starts with a "D". I work on the Gila River Indian Reservation and I think she's still down here. But I'll try to find out more on your dad and get back with you. Later, Merry Christmas

Just wanted to say Hi to my crazy Hopi friend Al. Guess I better get off my duff and write you a letter this Xmas season. It has been years, but I just wanted to thank you and your people for the continuation of your prayers and dances on behalf of the balance and sustenance of the world. Your children must be grown now which absolutely amazes me. Finally, thank you for those Christmas cookies that you and y our wife gave me so many years ago. They were delicious. Peace and Love, Brother. Andrew

For many years i have been drawn instinctively to hopi culture as well as that of the 'ancient ones' although i know very little about these subjects. i am an artist - to me this means seeing with 'the eye of the heart' and responding accordingly, although this is often problematic! i have been practicing tibetan buddhism since 1990. In the 70's, the head of our school, His Holiness the 16th Karmapa visited Hopiland. Apparently there were prophecies on both sides regrading this meeting. I am very interested in some of the apparent correspondences between tibetan and indigenous american cultures, anyone who would like to get in touch with me regarding any of these (or any other!) subjects, i would be very pleased to hear from you. with all best wishes for the worlds and for peace.

I am looking for my grandfather who is Hopi. I do not have much information about him. The only thing that I know is that his name is AL and that he lived in Salinas (or near Salinas) California around 1963-1964. He was seeing my grandmother Jean Hooton at the time. If anyone has any information about him or knows where I might look please email me. If he is still alive and doesn't want to be contacted that would be fine. All I want to know is who he is and where he comes from. I would like to know my family background. Thank you.

Hello, I wonder if anyone can provide me with some information please. Whilst on a recent tour of the US, I visited North Arizona (last August) in order to meet learn more about (and meet) meet Hopi. Whilst there, I went on a walking tour of First Mesa with a tour-guide whose first name was Dina. I would very much like to send some information in the post to Dina but I have been unable to locate the full address for First Mesa on the internet. If anyone can assist me, I'd be most grateful.

In response to Linda. Uranium for nuclear weapons!! Nah, can't be, Peabody wouldn't do this to us. I mean they've already taken our coal and water and now they want our uranium. OH YES THEY WOULD, GREEDY BASTARDS. Honestly Peabody does not surprise me at all and the lengths they'll go. And it doesn't surprise me at all the the Hopi and Navajo Tribes don't sue the heck out of Peabody. They're all about what happens when we recieve no revenue, then what? Honestly, the Hopi people have survived for centuries and sometimes I think that they have forgotten this and our teachings. We as a nation really need to do something about this. I'm tired of sitting around waiting for Peabody to get the heck out of this country!!

Last year Gary L. Naphi had left a message stating; "There's also been something that has been concerning me also. The Peabody Mining Company, I found out, will be mining for uranium. Now to all those that know that the main reason for this is for the nuclear capabilities, i.e., nuclear weapons. They may claim that it will be used for nuclear energy but I thnk we all know why they want it so bad. This practice needs to be stopped not only for our Mother Earth itself but for us all. I am surprised that this practice has been going on all this time without anyone wondering why. We need to take a closer look and ask questions. If we don't do it right now there may not be any one to ask later." I would like to know if this was followed up, and if so, would appreciate and update. Thank You.

I am hated and disliked more and more by my surroundings, the more I see what is before me, I relize I will be noted as crazy to speak of it. I carry the sun on my back the love in my heart, a stone and a branch and I am not afraid of the dark. Days seem to grow colder, I dream of many things, I know who is good and bad, and most of all, I feel so alone, that I have to just keep it all inside. Searching for somebody to rescue me.

There is an article in the Tutuveni this month, requesting the Hopi Tribe to sue John L. Boyden for confilict-of-interest and for Fraud. Also Peabody. John L. Boyden is the whole reason why we are loosing our water rights. I agree with the Black Mesa Trust on the issue that the Hopi Tribe needs to file a lawsuit!!!! This will be a very long battle, so we must begin the process now. THE CHAIRMAN HAS THE DUTY TO PROTECT THE HOPI PEOPLE. Contact the Tribe and request that they do so. I have reoccuring visions of a male from Arizona. He is Hopi. I have watched him grow up. I know many things about him, like the fact that he was born 9-12-76 and his grandpa who was an elder died about 4 years ago. I can only imagine that these visions have some significance, or else I would'nt have them for ten years straight. If anyone can help me please do so. Why have I been chosen to have such wonderful visions? And what should I do about them?

I hold a symbol of the Celtic Cross, found in an open field by my son. It holds three names engraved on the back and their is an empty branch with nothing engraved on it. I am Sun Turtle to my Cherokee friend, I will begin to wear the cross this Saturday. If it is to be... If you see doves, white doves, know that I am the one with the Celtic Cross. If you do not see the doves... I then am not he. A deer greeted me this morning. I know my life shall change into journey. The great owl came twice to my back door last month, I saw him first, and then my son. It is time to end what needed to end. And if the cross that my son gave me is the symbol that was meant to be to the Hopi then the world is about to change... My first message to the Hopi if I am the one of the Celtic Cross... "If you give the Great Creator's Love, and ask for nothing in return but love from the Great Creators Love, you shall find your true purpose. This does not merely happen because you merely deem it to be this way. The Great Creator's Love demands that it be this way." Stay on the road that leads to the Great Spirit... the Great Word... The Great Creator! I hope for all. Pray for me and watch for the doves for he came to me last spring.

I am trusting in Creator to relay this message in a good way to the ones who have been expecting me. My daughter and I recently lost our home, and have taken refuge in a cabin high in the mountains of San Cristobal New Mexico. Before we arrived here I was gifted with a white eagle feather, and my two year old baby girl a spotted eagle feather. I was told there are several Hopi elders who have been waiting to speak with me. We have been gifted this cabin until 9-26-04...from there we are waiting for guidance as to where we will make our new home. My daughter has been connecting with the star people every night since we got here I do not know who else to talk with about this, the sooner we can connect with these elders the better. If anyone feels moved to share our story in a good way...we could use a miracle right about now. May the spirit of the Sacred White Buffalo bring peace into your hearts and homes so long as the grasses grow and the rivers run... Aho! Mitakuye Oyasin..

Loloma! I want the world to know that my heart is heavy every single day when I think about all the water that PEABODY COAL COMPANY pumps out of the land each day. If it weren't for a greedy lawyer named JOHN L. BOYDEN the Hopi & Navajo people wouldn't have to worry about our springs and wells drying up. Now that this lawyer is paying for his greed in death we now have to clean up his mess!!! And it is turning out to be a hard struggle for the people. I want EVERYONE I MEAN EVERYONE to start participating in fighting for our water rights. We need to stop fighting over land, which isn't even ours in the first place and come together as one and get these bahana's and biligana's off Black Mesa before it is TOO LATE!!!!! WHAT IS LIFE WITHOUT WATER? CAN YOU SURVIVE? CAN YOUR PLANTS AND CATTLE SURVIVE? WHAT IS LAND GOOD FOR IF IT HAS NOT WATER? Support the fight!!!!!!

Hello, I am a Political Science/Philosophy student at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL and I am writing a paper in my Religious Quest and Human Dilemma class. The primary question with which this course concerns itself is the questioning of and quest for religious identity in the face of life and death, health and sickness, good and bad, and the "silent indifference" of the world. I would like to ask someone with a knowledgeable background in Hopi culture to answer a few questions for me. Responses will be kept anonomous. Hi I was born and raised in glendale arizona. i am now 33 years old and as a child between the ages of 3-6, i remember vividly seeing a kachina man staring at me through my bedroom window at different times. He was never harmful; however, it did give me the creeps from a child's perspective. I am a caucasion female and have no anscestory links to the hopi nation(except for the fact that i live in Arizona) I was curious if there was anyone out there who may have an idea what this means. I can attest that it was not a dream nor was this my imagination. I have asked around and I don't get any answers from any knowledgable Hopi's. Please assist me with answers to this mystery. Perhaps there is a meaning to this. Thank you

Just wanted to say hello to all. For all the Hopi People; let's get educated and bring it back to the mesas to teach our people. Our culture is part of the learning process and we need to communicate to the young ones to keep our traditions going till the next century. Language / Culture / Education is the keep for our hopi people.

Greetings, blessings of light and love to you all, I am so glad to find this link to you so far away! Years ago I was moved to travel from the west coast of America to Second Mesa, specifically the Corn Rocks upon reaching I sat under them and smoked some tobacco and communed with the place. Now , some 14 years or so later I am living in Africa, but still feel such a connection to the Hopi, and even to these same Corn Rocks. Can anyone who has the time and knowledge write me and tell me more of these Corn Rocks? Give thanks and praises to the Most High. One Love, Caroline

i dreamed of a white kachina and of people that looked like me. in the dream i was dancing with them in a line and remember carrying rattles in my hands as we prayed and danced. i remember before the ceromony i was in a house. i went upstairs and saw so many people that looked like me. i remember looking for a sign. i was quiet and looking, searching to see a sign or symbol. then a small child appeared with long black straight hair and dark skin like me. he had just come back from a soccer game and he reminded me of my cousin. then i saw like this doll and it was white, for sure it was a WHITE kachina doll. if anyone knows the meaning of this dream please tell me. i want to know the meaning of a white kachina.

There is a book out that is suppose to be an interpretation of stone tablets from the mound builders of the Ohio valley. Wondered if anyone had heard of this before. I found it most interesting. They have a web site that has portions of the book available to view online. I have communicated with those who published the book, and they say they may be planning to make it available for free on the internet. In kind regards, Marpie.

I am a non native american, of Italian descent, age 57 a registered nurse 35yrs. Being holistic and believing in indigenous medicine, I practice a Japanese healing modality that originates from Tibetan ancient sanscrit. I am looking to communicate with a Hopi to discuss and share ideas about native medicine and healing . With all respect and sincerity, I do hope not to assume too much and humbly ask this . I also believe that I had a past life as a Hopi. Since my 50th year many encounters with native americans have occurred and I also read somewhere that Tibetan people may be connected to the Hopi people. Today I practice Reiki which was found to be Tibetan in origin. I have taken up more than enough of your time. Thank you for reading this and hopefully you may answer me. Blessings, Jam
